#Film showing in #Tripoli tonight: Man of Ashes

Tripoli, 29 June 2013:
A hard-hitting Tunisian film about how experiences of childhood mistreatment can affect adult life will be shown at Tripoli’s Art House tonight.
Like any groom, Hachemi is anxious about his approaching marriage, but not for the usual reasons. He feels that his new life cannot begin properly unless he revisits a time in his childhood when he and his best friend Farfat were apprentices with the neighbourhood carpenter, who mistreated them. Delving into the past threatens to reveal the fragility of Hachemi’s place in society, but it is a journey he feels compelled to undertake.
Directed by Nouri Bouzid, Man of Ashes stars Imed Maalal and Khaled Ksouri. It is in Arabic with English subtitles.
Tonight’s film-showing is organised by the Arete Cinema Club. Cinemas and theatres in Libya were closed for decades and the cinema club aims to reintroduce films to the community.
The screening of Man of Ashes starts at 6 pm. The Art House is on Al-Sekka Road in Tripoli.
