#libya 500 schools to receive maintenance, says Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education has announced 500 schools will receive maintenance this year to improve educational facilities across Libya.
The Minister of Higher Education Ali Muftah Obaid said in a press conference on Sunday, the Ministry has granted permission to contractors who are able to perform maintenance during the summer vacation. 10 schools need to be rebuilt from scratch including seven schools in Zliten and two schools in Sirte.
With regards to new projects in the education sector, Obaid claimed an e-learning project will be launched in 2014 which will integrate the use of tablets with education.
Despite heavy investments into the technology, the long term savings on materials and convenience for students and schools is something currently being tested in South Korea.
A committee is working with global organizations including UNESCO to develop a curricula for Libyan schools, in an attempt to create a successful digital learning experience.
