Libyan side Ahly Benghazi held Entente Setif of Algeria to a 1-1 draw in their Group B clash on Saturday in Setif, ensuring that the latter remains without a win at the favourite 8 May 1945 Stadium at this stage.
Midfielder Abdelrahman Fetori converted a late penalty to earn the visitors a deserving draw after Rachid Nadji had powered the host into the lead just before half time.
The result confirms the Algerians as temporary custodians of the top spot of Group B with five points, just a point above CS Sfaxien, who face fellow Tunisians Esperance Sportive de Tunis later on Sunday in Rades.
Setif, seeking their first win of the group phase at their backyard got off well, but found an equal opposition in the Libyan visitors, who were without influential duo, Nigerian Moses Orkuma and Zimbabwe forward Edward Sadomba.
Ahly Benghazi, debuting at this stage held their hosts till the dying embers of the first half that a costly defensive blunder saw them concede. On 44 minutes, Nadji intercepted a Jabason Solomon pass, beating goalie Wisam Al Boudi before slotting home for the opener.
The Libyans survived several threats from their hosts in the second half to keep the result still. With the game heading for a close, the complexion will change on 90 minutes after Setif defender Mohamed Lagraa handled from a corner to give the visitors a chance to have a say in the game.

Fetori converted the resultant penalty minutes later and take his side's tally to four points as the tournament reaches the halfway mark
