Libya _ SLEB suspends sending migrant workers to Libya*

The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau has decided to temporarily suspend sending Sri Lankan migrant workers to Libya. Minister Dilan Perera was reported to have taken this decision in lieu of the political unrest prevailing in Libya at present.
Accordingly all foreign employment agencies have been instructed not to send migrant workers until further notice. The Bureau has also advised that those wishing to travel to Libya for employment are doing so at their own risks.
Deputy General Manager of the Bureau Mangala Randeniya was reported to have said that at least 20 Sri Lankans are working in Libya at present and measures will be taken to bring them back to the country.

In related news, the Foreign Services Bureau have announced that a number of vacancies for domestic nurses in European countries have been availed to Sri Lanka. Priority will be being given to women who are in the 25 to 45 age group. Those who qualify will have to pass a language test and will have to undergo three months training prior to starting work.
