The recent victory of the Libyan national football team at the Championship of African Nations in South Africa further confirmed the fact that with determination and hard work, we would always get results. This is a country that has not played domestic football for more than three years following political turmoil yet they were able to assemble a team of home based players and conquered the continent without losing a single match at the tournament. The victory came at the right time for a country saddled with reconstruction, rehabilitation and reconciliation. The victory further confirmed the resilience of Africans. I am incurably optimistic that Africa has the ability and capacity to be better and greater than what it is today, what we lack is good leadership. May this victory be the beginning of cultivation of gardens of glory for Libya.
