Libya - Libya Oil, Gas Pipelines Blocked in Protest against Expired Interim Parliament ^

tripolipost
Tripoli—Angry Libyan protesters closed on Tuesday oil and gas pipelines of Wafa oilfield in the south in protest against the unpopular interim parliament or the General National Congress whose mandate ended on 7 February but most of its members have refused to surrender authority.

An already chaotic situation in Libya could very much deepen in Libya or become violent if the General National Congress does not respond to popular demands to quit and surrender power very soon.

Other oilfield could be blockaded in the coming days.

On Saturday, major and small Libyan cities witness mass protests and declarations against the GNC accusing its members of corruption and failure to get the job done.

The GNC was first elected in July 2012 and was supposed to end its term on February 7. But its members have extended its mandate without consulting with their constituencies.
