#Zeidan to 3GNC “I will not resign” #libya

By Sami Zaptia
Tripoli, 21 August 2013:
Prime Minister Ali Zeidan told the GNC yesterday that he would not tender his resignation, despite the fact that a minority of GNC members had asked for it.
Zeidan was summoned by the GNC, together with a number of his Ministers, to defend the performance of his government and in particular to reply to allegations by hisrecently resigned Interior Minister, Mohamed Sheikh, that he was dictatorial in his running of his government.
However, Zeidan refused to hand in his resignation, saying that it was up to Congress to withdraw confidence from his government if it wanted to remove him.
“Resignation from the government would be a natural event in these circumstances that are difficult to bear and difficult to work within”, he added
“On my part, I considered heading the government as a project of struggle (sacrifice) and the situation requires patience”.
The questioning of the Prime Minister was held in closed session, and we do not have an independent source of the questions and answers. The Prime Minister’s media office reported throughout the session on its Facebook page and we have had to rely on it as a source of information.
