Visa-scammed #Egyptians turned back at border crossing #libya

Tripoli, 13 August 2013:
Some 250 Egyptian workers heading into Libya have been turned back from the Musaid border crossing, after fraudulent visas were found in their passports.
Suspicious security personnel at the Libya-Egypt crossing contacted security officials at Tripoli International Airport to have the visas checked. The airport, which is currently working with Interpol and the EU Integrated Border Assistance Mission in Libya, to improve border checks and security, confirmed that the visas were fake. The Egyptians were denied entry.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior Rami Kaal confirmed to the Libya Herald that around 250 illegal workers were turned back after the names and numbers on the visas were found to be inconsistent.
He added that the border, which was closed after 1,200 prisoners escaped from a jail near Benghazi in July, was now open.
