#libya Amazigh reject Libyan Constitution

libya tv

The Amazigh people in Libya have rejected the draft law prepared by the constituent body as it did appear to be a “formal representation” of society.
The GNC are yet to finalise the body, but Amazigh made it clear they feel under-represented in the new Libya.
Making up almost a fifth of the Libyan population, the Amazigh people have demanded the need to include their language in the Libyan Constitution, giving them freedom to use it in educational institutions.
In June, Libya nominated the country’s first Amazigh senior government post after decades when Nouri Abusahmain became president of the General National Congress.
Gaddafi suppressed the Amazigh culture, and since his overthrow their people have demanded more rights in Libya.
