#Benghazi and #Sirte attacks probably coordinated – Interior Minister Sheikh

By Sami Zaptia.
Tripoli, 25 July 2013:
Speaking at yesterday’s press conference, Interior Minister Mohamed Sheikh said that Tuesday’s attacks on the police station in Benghazi and on the Courts complex in Sirte were probably coordinated.
He attributed this to the fact they both went off at around the same time at dawn. He further went on to say that this attack was probably carried out by former convicts who had long sentences.
They do not want the return to the rule of law he said. Many have life sentences, he added, and their aim is to delay the return of the state.
He called on civil society to help reveal the hideouts of these former inmates and he called on the regions and tribes to disown these former inmates.
The Minister of Interior was refering to the 16,000 or so prisoners that were released by the Qaddafi regime during the 2011 revolution.
Much criminal and terror activity in Libya today is ostensibly attributed to these former inmates. However, to date, no one has been publicly arrested or brought to trial for such alleged activity.
