Arab British Award for Culture 2013 invites applications #libya

Tripoli, 13 June 2013:
Libyans who have been contributing to British understanding of Arab culture could be in with a chance of winning £2,500 to further their work and career.
The Arab British Centre Award for Culture 2013 is inviting applications from individuals who have made a constructive contribution to British understanding of Arab culture over the past two years.
Judges will consider each entrant’s experience, as well as looking at:
* Education – has the individual’s work made a constructive contribution to British understanding of culture?
* Quality – Can the individual’s work be considered original, insightful and honest?
* Impact – What is the impact of the individual’s work on British audiences?
* Career development – What effect would winning the award have on the individual?
The prize is £2,500 and there will also be opportunities for the winner to promote his or her work more widely through London’s Arab British Centre.
The new award for individuals is the successor to the Arab British Culture and Society Award which, for four years, celebrated organisations that had made an impact on the British public’s understanding of the life, society and culture of the Arab world.
The closing date for applications is 26 July.
