#libya Cartoon case adjourned

By Hadi Fornaji.
Tripoli, 17 June, 2013:
The trial of Libyan National Party policy manager Ali Tekbali and its General-Secretary Fathi Sager, who have been changed over the use of a controversial cartoon during the 2012 Congress election campaign, has again been adjourned.
The case opened at Tripoli’s Criminal Court in May but was almost instantly adjourned and then resumed yesterday. However, a number of witnesses had not made themselves available and Tekbali was in the US for a gamily marriage.
The trial is now adjourned until 13 October.
The charges against the two politicians include insulting Islam and the Prophet Mohamed, which nominally carry a death penalty. Amnesty International have called them “ludicrous” and say they should be dropped.
