#Libya looks at energy cooperation with #UAE

By Hadi Fornaji.
Tripoli, 20 April 2013:
Deputy Prime Minister Awad Al-Barasi has had talks with the head of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, on possible collaboration on energy projects in Libya, notably sustainable developments.
Barasi, who served as electricity minister in the previous government of Abdurrahim Al-Kib and prior to the revolution was Vice President of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, was in Dubai as a keynote speaker at the Dubai Global Energy Forum 2013 which ran from 14 to17 April.
Its theme was ‘Clean Energy for Sustainable Development’.
In his speech to the forum, Barasi focused on Libya’s non-fossil fuel energy plans, including wind and solar power as well as nuclear energy, aided by a new energy research centre. He also gave delegates an overview of the current situation in Libya.
At their meeting on Thursday, Shaikh Ahmed accepted an invitation from Barasi to visit Libya.  A date is yet to be set.
