#Turkish opposition concerned over #Israel’s apology: Report

Turkey’s main opposition has expressed concern over the Tel Aviv regime’s apology to Ankara for the 2010 Israeli assault on a Gaza-bound flotilla that killed nine Turkish activists.

According to a report published by the Turkish daily Hurriyet on Tuesday, Faruk Logoglu, the deputy chairman of Republican People’s Party (CHP), dismissed the apology and said the delay, timing and method of the apology raises concerns.

“Is this development a prologue to new conflicts in the region, or does it herald a peaceful and stable era for the region?” Logoglu asked.

Meanwhile, Osman Koruturk, a CHP member, also called on Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to disclose script of the phone conversation on March 22 regarding the apology made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a talk with Turkey’s Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Has Turkey made a commitment to a joint operation with Israel and the US against Syria as well as against Iraq and Iran as next phases in return for Israel’s apology?” Koruturk asked Davutoglu.

Netanyahu wrote on his Facebook page on March 23 that the true motive behind the resumption of ties with Turkey was Israel’s concerns over the crisis in Syria.

The Israeli military attacked the Freedom Flotilla in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea on May 31, 2010, killing nine Turkish nationals aboard the Turkish-flagged Mavi Marmara and injuring about 50 other activists that were part of the team on the six-ship convoy.
