#Oman grants asylum to #Qaddafi family members

Tripoli, 26 March 2013:
Qaddafi’s widow Safia and three of his children have been granted asylum by Oman, according to Omani newspaper Al Shabiba.
Libya’s Foreign Minister, Mohamed Abdulaziz, confirmed that some Qaddafi family members had moved from Algeria to Oman. Speaking at the Arab Summit in Doha, he said that there would be an official announcement from all three countries – Algeria, Oman and Libya – at a later date.
Qaddafi family members left Algeria in November last year but their destination was not disclosed. They had fled to the neighbour state in 2011, during the revolution.
An official in the Omani government told Reuters that Qaddafi’s widow Safia, daughter Aisha and sons Mohammed and Hannibal were among those granted asylum. He said they had been in the country since October last year.
The Oman Embassy in Tripoli refused to comment when contacted by the Libya Herald today.
Yesterday, a Libyan businessman told the  Libya Herald that he had seen Mohammed Qaddafi in Oman’s capital Muscat last week.
