An Egyptian boat smuggling Libyan diesel to Malta was halted by the Libyan coast patrol on Sunday evening.
According to the Navy Chief, there were 12 Egyptians and a Maltese on board when the boat was spotted three miles off the coast of Zuwara.
After the marine coastguards stormed the boat, documentation was discovered that the boat had made the trip to Malta three times already in March, indicating the involvement of criminal organisation.
An investigation is underway to discover the extent of fuel being smuggled to Malta from Libya.
