Following an agreement, signed here Monday by the Libyan Minister of
Justice, Salah al-Marghin, and the American ambassador to Libya, Deborah
Jones, the US government is to assist in the training of Libyan
judicial officers and in criminal investigations as well as in the
resolution of matters under the rule of law.
Under the agreement, Libya is expected to benefit from the American expertise in term of fighting organized crime.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Libyan Minister of justice stated that his country needed such an agreement to build strong institutions.
Responding, the American diplomat reaffirmed US willingness to help Libya establish strong institutions that will adhere to the rule of law and respect human rights.
