Three military vessels are participating in tactical training
in Malta, which kicked off on Sunday in southern Malta and will
continue for six days.
The exercise is part of an initiate created by the defence cooperation of northern and southern Mediterranean countries including: Malta, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania.
Col. Ayoub Kasim told the Libyan news agency that the three boats from the Tripoli naval base sailed to Malta on Sunday evening, carrying Marine Special Forces on board to participate in the exercise.
Kasim said that the exercise is aimed at increasing training and coordination in the fight against illegal immigration, drugs, and illegal activity including piracy. Other exercises include maritime rescue combat, marine pollution and other areas of seamanship.
