#Libya Start Favourites Against Uganda in Final Warm-up Before World Cup Qualifiers #football

A Libya national team formation; not many changes are expected for clash with Uganda

On Saturday, Libya's national football team will make history as it plays its first international match on home soil since October 10, 2010, in a warm up match against Uganda, its final encounter as part of its preparation for two important forthcoming round 4 FIFA World Cup Group I matches against DR Congo on June 7, and Togo a week later.

The meeting against Uganda is the last chance national coach Abdulhafeedh Arbeesh has to right any wrongs still unsolved in his line-up in view of the first qualifier against DR Congo. Even though perhaps by now he already should know all there is to know about his 21-strong squad.

The team formation in Saturday's game against Uganda could therefore give an inkling as to Libya's starting line-up next Saturday. Although he must do without a couple of players, either injured or suspended, he is expected to bank heavily on the experience of players who have for long graced the national side.

However, coach Arbeesh is also expected to include other promising and talented players who have been serving him well and look set to be the basis of a future Libya team, the expected to include a mixture of experience and promising talent, that however has already proven itself.

The game against Uganda is Libya's third warm-up game in two weeks following up closely on the home 2-0 victory against Mauritania, and the 1-0 loss in Amman against Jordan.

Due to the two very important appointments on the international scene, Arbeesh has also been with the squad in a training camp in Italy that also served to bond the team together with the hope of continuing on its successful venture in the World Cup qualifiers.

Since being forced to play their supposedly 'home' games on neutral grounds, Libya are unbeaten (the only) in their three qualifiers to date and have five points from a win and two draws. They are a point behind leaders Cameroon – 5 to 6 – and one ahead of DR Congo. Togo are bottom with one point.

Libya currently are ranked 65th among the FIFA members, while Today's opponents, Uganda, whose Serbian coach Milutin Sredojević will make his debut at the helm, are 91st.

This will be fourth encounter between Libya and the Cranes of Uganda, The first was way back in 2000 in Kampala when Uganda won 3-2. At the time, Libya were under Argentine coach Carlos Bilardo.

Six years later, in 2006, Libya reversed the result, by the same score in the second meeting in Tripoli, while in 2008 the teams shared the spoils in a scoreless draw, again played in Kampala.
This time round, Uganda will be hoping to improve their performance in view of their next World Cup qualifiers.

The Cranes currently find themselves bottom of Group J, having managed just two points from their opening three matches to sit three behind leaders Senegal and two off the pace of Liberia in second.

No wonder Libya start as favourites. So one hopes they not only don't disappoint but also play well enough to boost their hopes for the next match.
