The President of the Murzuq Military Council, Baraka
Wardako, has dismissed claims made by Niger’s Foreign Minister Mohamed
Bazoum, that Libya has become a hub for Islamists.
Wardako believes Bazoum’s words lack any substance, and claims that the south of Libya is protected by revolutionaries who are based in the desert. He added that their are no Islamist factions training in the desert.
Foreign Minister Bazoum made his claims whilst on a visit to Paris, France recently. He believes his country has information on armed Islamists who were expelled from northern Mali by French and U.S. forces are now residing in the south of Libya, underlining the lack of authority the current laws hold int the country.
