Four foreign Christians have been arrested in Libya on proselytism
charges and face the prospect of the death penalty. The four--who
include a Swedish-American with a US passport, as well as citizens of
Egypt, South Africa, and South Korea--allegedly distributed pamphlets
explaining Christianity.
Police said that the four had distributed 25,000 pamphlets and had another 45,000 in their possession.
“Proselytizing is forbidden in Libya,” said a security official. “We are a 100% Muslim country, and this kind of action affects our national security.”
