Libya has been wracked with political violence and instability since the end of the civil war in 2011, which saw many armed militia groups formed in the country. Cases of assassinations targeting politicians and security officials, who have tried to crack down on the militias, have increased since then, but many civilians and noncombatants often get caught in the crossfire.
