Libya is chasing victory over Congo Brazzaville in Polokwane on Tuesday with an eye on making their CHAN quarterfinal debut.
The Mediterranean Knights lead Group C on four points, one point more than third placed Congo.
Libya have stealthy gone about their business at CHAN playing some authoritative football in what is so far turning to be their best run in the competition.
This is after tumbling at the group stage of the inaugural tournament in Cote d'Ivoire in 2009 where they finished bottom of their preliminary round pool with one point.
Coach Javier Clemente has remained modest despite Libya's prospective quarterfinal qualification in South Africa.
"It is a good position to go into our last group match in but we know there is still a lot of work to be done before we can qualify to the next phase of the competition,” Clemente said.
However, behind the scenes, Clemente should feel optimistic looking at the form of striker El Mutasem Abushnaf and combative midfielder Mohamed Elgadi whose performances have epitomised Libya’s good run in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Congo coach Sebastien Migne insists that his side will advance despite escaping with a 1-0 win over misfiring Ethiopia whom they eliminated in their penultimate Group C game in Bloemfontein on January 17.
"We stand a good chance of qualifying now and although Libya is a very good youthful side we go out looking for victory,” Migne said.
Victory for Congo and draw or win for second positioned Ghana, who have four points, against Ethiopia will see Libya's last eight hopes extinguish.
