Job Opening (JO) for Assistant Security Sector Reform OfficerUNSMIL- NO-A-23/2013 (Open for 15 days)Title: Assistant Security Sector Reform OfficerLevel: NO-APost #: MIL1279265 (01 Position)Duty Station: TripoliSection: Security Sector Advisory and Coordination DivisionDate of Issue: 06 November 2013Deadline for applications: 20 November 2013For Libyan Nationals ONLYJob Description:Reporting to the Chief, Border Security Advisory Section, the NPO (Border Security) will be responsible for the following tasks:• Assist the Chief, Border Security Advisory Section in developing advice services to assist Libyan authorities in creating and implementing a border security strategy.• Support and assist in organizing regular consultations with national stakeholders to discuss border security issues, and to identify potential requirements for additional support from the international community• Support and assist the Border Security Advisory Section with research on border security and related issues and contribute to information notes, talking points and other written outputs• Collect, review, summarize and classify documentation on border security, including the provision of maps• Develop and maintain a filing system for the Section• Assist the Section in maintaining close liaison with national and local authorities, and other UNMSIL Sections working on issues related to border security (i.e. Police Section, Defense Section, Human Rights/Transitional Justice/Rule of Law Section)• Assist the Chief of Section in preparing meetings related to border security, incl. preparation of UNSMIL input to international coordination meetings• Undertake administrative action related to the provision of border security-related advice and assistance to Libya, including scheduling of meetings,organizing of conferences, booking of meeting venues, arranging of transport and reception, note taking and follow-up• Undertake ad hoc translation services when required.• Perform any other duties as may be assigned or required.Competencies:Professionalism: Clear understanding and commitment to border security.

Relevant combination ofacademic qualifications and experience in communications, journalism or related area, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.Experience: At least one (1) year of relevant experience in international organizations, national civil society organizations, NGO and or government isdesirable. Knowledge or work experience in the area of border security and government coordination is an asset..
