(ANSAmed) - TRIPOLI - The Marsa Hariga terminal in Tobruk re-opened on Monday
and oil exports will resume within a week, Libyan Premier Ali Zeidan announced
during a visit yesterday to eastern Libya. Activities of Sharara's oilfield
co-managed by Spain's Repsol with Libyan state-owned oil company Noc will resume
in the next 24 hours, Oil Minister Abdel Bar Al Arusi said Monday during a visit
to Tobruk. The Sharara plant was forced to close on Sunday after protests by
armed Tuareg militants against the marginalization of the city of
Ubari.
An armed group of the Amazigh Berber minority has been protesting since Saturday night and threatens to close the facility of Mellitah co-managed by Eni, in the western part of Libya, and is asking authorities to be more represented within the constituent assembly and for its cultural heritage to be recognized.
Meanwhile a strike by security guards' at major oil fields which began at the end of July is still ongoing and has caused one of the worst oil crises since the 2011 conflict with losses estimated at 130 million dollars a day.(ANSAmed).
