South Korean construction firm Hyundai resumed work on 2,000
housing units in al-Qubbah on Sunday, after security issues delayed the
project progressing.
The Minister of Housing and Utilities Ali Sharif attended a celebration at Hyundai’s headquarters along with other officials in the area including the Korean Ambassador to Libya, Lee Jong Guk, and directors belonging to the Korean firm.
Sharif gave a speech praising the people of al-Qubbah for their efforts to maintain the construction site and machinery belonging to Hyundai since the outbreak of the revolution in 2011.
Ambassador Lee Jong Guk expressed his happiness at the project’s resumption, and also thanked the local people for protecting the site since February 2011.
Earlier this year, Korea announced they have nine construction companies with 25 projects worth a total of $10.6 billion in Libya.
