The Interior Ministry has denied the new appointment of Mahdi Harati as the new Interior Minister on Tuesday.
Members of the National Conference have said there is no knowledge as to who the candidates are for the position since Mohammed al-Sheikh resigned in August after just three months as Interior Minister.
The appointment will be made by the head of government and will then be voted on by the GNC.
Mahdi Harati, a resident of Ireland, was a former commander for the Tripoli Brigade and then moved onto Syria in 2012 to form the Liwaa al-Umma militant group.
Sheikh’s resignation was the second from the Interior Minister position this year.
