Benghazi, 12 July 2013:
The General National Congress will resume sittings tomorrow, Tuesday, after the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.
Even during the break, a small, specially-formed committee of Congress members continued to meet in response to the deteriorating security in the country, particularly in Benghazi, towards the end of Ramadan.
“A committee of members was formed by Congress to work during Eid Al-Fitr, to monitor the security situation across Libya,” Benghazi Congressman Ahmed Langhi told the Libya Herald.
He stressed the importance of communication and dialogue now between the country’s security institutions, some of which, he said, had lost trust in each other.
He also said that confidence needed to be restored in the police and security institutions across the country.
Training Libya’s security personnel to international professional levels would require a great effort, Langhi said, and called on the global community to help Libya rebuild its police force.
