Tripoli, 29 July 2013:
A light goods truck exploded in the early hours of this morning, causing a huge blaze and incinerating an Iveco parked nearby.
The truck, which was parked in Tripoli’s Dreibi district in the south-west of the city, exploded at around 1.30 am.
No-one was injured, but both the truck and the Iveco were completely destroyed in the blaze.
Police at the scene said they could not be sure whether the explosion was an act of sabotage or an accident. However, the spokesman for Interior Ministry, Rami Kaal, told the Libya Herald today that no foul play was suspected.
This was the second major fire the area has seen in the last week. On Thursday, local fire fighters struggled to cope with a massive warehouse blaze, and had to call in support from fire engines from outside Tripoli.
