The holy month of Ramadan will start tomorrow, Wednesday, Libya’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadeq Al-Ghariani, has announced.
According to Ghariani the new crescent moon was not visible in Libya last night, making today, Tuesday, the last day of the Hijri month of Shaban and Wednesday the first day of Ramdan.
In the Islamic lunar calendar there are twelve months in a year of 354 or 355 days. Each lunar month has 29 or 30 days depending on moon sightings. This system is used to date the annual fast of the month of Ramadan, Eid and Hajj, as well as other Islamic events.
