Tripoli, 27 July 2013:
Prime Minister Ali Zeidan said that he would have liked to have nominated a candidate for consideration by the GNC for the job of the Central Bank of Libya Governor.
Zeidan, speaking at Wednesday’s press conference, said that the job of the CBL Governor was appointed by the legislature, the GNC, and had nothing to do with his government, the executive.
Nevertheless, he noted that in many other countries the government usually nominates a candidate. Zeidan further added that he had no opinion on the issue except that he hoped that a capable person was appointed.
The GNC had, with little fanfare, posted on its website last Monday 22 July an application form and an invitation for candidates to apply for both the CBL Governor and Deputy Governor’s jobs.
