Prime Minister Ali Zeidan announced in a press conference on
Thursday he would soon visit Moscow, accepting Russian President
Vladimir Putin’s invitation.
The meeting would be to try and restore relations between the two countries.
“Russia is an important country, and has been linked to Libya for over 50 years. There are some outstanding issues between us, and we must continue to maintain a balanced relationship,” Zeidan said.
The two met on the sidelines at the G-8 Summit, which was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland this week. The two discussed relations between the two countries and agreed to hold a meeting in Moscow.
