The childhood home of Lebanese singer Fairuz will be restored and
turned into a museum for the public to reminisce over the life of one of
the most admired voices in the Arab world.
“The house that was meant to turn into a museum, a resemblance of a legend in the history of music, is falling apart day by day; nothing remained but memories and ruins,” Jojio Taraf the official spokesman of “save Beirut’s heritage society” told Al Arabiya.
Taraf says the house in the country’s capital is currently being restored to be turned into a museum, but according to the minister of culture, Beirut Municipality has delayed the work on the home.
“The original owner of the house was meant to destroy it, but Beirut Municipality made a decision to own the land and turn it into a cultural and artistic museum after its restoration,” Taraf added.
