A Navy tactical training exercise begun taking place on
Sunday off the coast of Tripoli between the French and Libyan forces,
including three Libyan patrol boats and a French frigate.
The Libyan Navy’s official spokesman, Colonel Ayub Omar Kassim, told LANA that the exercise will last for a total of six days, and is set to focus on coordination and cooperation between members of the Libyan Navy.
“The latest in Naval equipment will be used to create different conditions for the exercises,” he added.
The Libyan-French joint exercise aims to identify common tasks that forces are likely to deal with, participate in joint drills, and general training with the latest equipment for all members of the Libyan Navy.
On Sunday, the Benghazi Naval Base received a new frigate from the France. ‘Janzour’ can reach up to 30 knots, and measures 20 metres in length. A second was received in Tobruk, and both will serve to protect the eastern shore of Libya.
