Tripoli— The Prime Minster Ali Zidan will make an official visit to the
headquarters of the European Union on Monday 27 May 2013, a statement by
his office in Tripoli said Sunday.
The statement which received by The Tripoli Post said Mr. Zidan’s visit is aiming “to restore Libya's regional and international role within the context of building international relations based on collaboration, equality and mutual respect.”
Mr. Zidan will hold meetings with top officials of the EU during which he will discuss the ways and means that further strengthen cooperation and the relations between Libya and the EU countries in various sectors.
The Libyan Prime Minister will participate in a series of meetings with European officials including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, the President of the European Commission, the President of the Council of the European Union, the President and Members of the European Parliament as well as the NATO Secretary General, said the statement.
Zidan will also seize the opportunity to review with the EU leaders the progress towards the establishment of state institutions and the rule of law during the transition period.
“Additionally on behalf of the Libyan people, Prime Minister Ali Zaidan will extend to the European Union and NATO Member States, gratitude and appreciation for their support during Libya's transition towards democracy,” the statement added.
