Libyan gas exports resumed to Italy after a brief stop on Saturday, as a
result of armed dispute around the Mellitah complex on the western
Libyan coast.
The Libyan Deputy Minister of Defence announced Sunday that gas exports have resumed as the Libyan army took over the security requirements in the complex.
Libya provides at least ten percent of Italy’s gas needs.
Mellitah gas complex is located about 100 kms west of Tripoli on the sea coast. It is a joint venture between the Libyan National Oil Coloration and Eni of Italy.
