#Libya Movie Awards – Call For Participation

The Libyan Film Awards to be held in Tripoli in March funded by the EU and organised by the local NGO 1-Libya and the Italian Culture Institute.

Call For Participation
The Italian Culture Institute, in partnership with the European Union, is pleased to announce the First edition of the ‘’Libya Movie Awards’’.
This is a competition for short films by talented young Libyan film makers. It aims at stimulating the creation of a Libyan movie industry and building a community of film makers. In addition to helping the discovery of new talents, this important event will provide a venue for conveying ideas on relevant social issues in Libya after the revolution.
Prizes for the winners consist in professional tools to increase opportunities for the career. An international Jury composed by Libyan directors and film critics along with European movie makers and directors will select the works submitted.
In the three-days program the European guests will offer in the mornings workshops and lectures about movie making, and in the afternoon prize-winner short films will be shown. You are cordially invited to participate with a production of yours, preferably a new one, created for the occasion. Please, take note of the following Rules and regulations: -
Participants must be Libyan nationals and preferably active since the Revolution (but not limited to)
- Movies accepted must be in DVD.
- Movies duration must be between 1 and 10 minute long.
- Movies must belong to one of the following categories:
1- Culture.   2- Human rights.   3- Movie promo (Trailers).   4- Creative short movie (Fiction, Horror, Comedy , Drama )   5- Music Videos.   6- Animation.   7- Awareness Video.
You are requested to submit your work between the 10th and the 20th of March 2013 (deadline).
Movies can be sent to libyaawards@gmail.com or sent by regular mail to:   Istituto Italiano di Cultura   P.O.Box 12475 Tripoli
Alternatively, movies can be delivered in our premises in Nofliin – Shara Mostafa Bazama (Ahmad ar-RAfiq Al-Mehdawi).
*For participants outside of Tripoli , Locations will be set to hand in the martial in case of a slow internet connection while up-loading the films.
