Officials, guests and businessmen during the opening ceremony of the Textiles and Clothing Fair in Tripoli
Eighty-five international companies have taken part in the textiles and clothing fair that has been opened Tuesday at the Tripoli International Fair grounds in downtown Tripoli.
Textile and clothing companies from Italy, Turkey Tunisia, Egypt and other nationalities are among the major participants in the fair.
The fair comes at a time as Libya adopts a free market policy to provide a sought after Libyan market in North and sub-Sahara Africa.
Libya provides a market to country such as Egypt, Tunisia, Chad, Mali, Niger and Sudan. The large number of workers, immigrants and traders from these countries depend on the Libyan market for re-exporting these needed materials back home.
The Libyan official who opened the fair, Ahmed al-Akari, said the exhibit provides a good opportunity for traders in textiles and cloths to make direct contacts and cut deals in the capital city of Tripoli.
A number of diplomats and officials attended the official opening of the fair.
