CAIRO — An Egyptian security official says a court
has sentenced two Israeli citizens to two years in prison for illegally
entering the country.
The official said Tuesday that a court in the city of Nuweiba, 370 kilometers (230 miles) southeast of Cairo, handed down the sentence a day earlier. The court also fined both men 3000 L.E. (nearly $450).
The defendants have appealed the ruling.
The official said the two men were detained separately in January in the resort city of Taba, some 370 kilometers east of Cairo.
