A rapid rise in police enrollment by the Supreme Security Committee (SSC) has been announced by the Interior Ministry.
Approximately 26,00 members have joined the the forces, which has reached targets set by the government. Interior Minister Ashour Shuwail claimed the ministry needed between 25,000-30,000 members of the SSC to join the police force.
Since the beginning of 2013, nearly 22,000 troops have joined with the vast majority of those in eastern parts of Libya.
According to Interior Ministry spokesman Magdi Al-Arafi full-time police training courses for ex-SSC members have started in Ajdabiya, Jmail, Gharian, Zuara, Emsalata, Ajeelat and Beida.
