An
armed militia group has besieged the city of Ghadames after a previous
altercation between one of its members and a local young man, according
to a member of its local congress.
Abdel- hadi al-Bakai, of the Ghadames Local Council, said that the armed group has set up checkpoints and been preventing the citizens of the town from entering or leaving the city since Saturday.
The militias have threatened the local council that if their wanted people were not handed over, they would continue with the siege.
Ghadames was the location of deadly clashes between Arabs and Tuaregs, who were accused of supporting the former Gaddafi regime.
